Yo dog we heard you liked building so we put a text-based building game inside another building game's forum so you could build while you build (or wait for building).

The rules are simple.

First post of a player: Example (MUST BE SIMILAR TO DO THIS.)
Starts with 10 men and 10 women
they are rubbing stick when a flame caught fire. They find it is warm. they start to use it for warmth.

So you build your civilization from a few simple people.

You may use: Technology, Magic, and Religion. YOU MUST EXPLAIN HOW YOU GOT IT! YOU MAY NOT START OUT WITH IT EITHER.

Here is the form for posting.

Civilization name:
Population:
City and names:
Allies(if any):
Year:
Additional Info:

(Anything else you want to add i.e our chemical engineers have discovered gunpowder by trying new drugs; We declare war on the Sheep Herder Civilization because they are evil!)

Start at year one (relative to your first post)

If you want to have allies you need to find them i.e. we sailed across the sea and found the Bootlicker civilization and they gave us boots so we're allies now.
In order to declare war you have already found them (unless they found you)

You may only jump six years a post at MAXIMUM.

No hacks/godmodding i.e. Random assault rifles dropped from the sky and the COD people killed all the invading barbarians.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE HUMAN. ELVES, ORCS AND THE LIKE ARE ALL WELCOME.

NEW RULE: YOU MUST WAIT FOR AT LEAST TWO OTHER CIVILIZATION UPDATE FORM POSTS BEFORE YOU CAN POST AGAIN.

Current Civilizations:
Sevis
Redd Goblin Moon Tribe (AFK)
Solcoria (AFK)
Tzoka
Pandora
Asgard
Wolf-kin
Cocytus

Civilization name: Sevis
Population: 20
City and names: Cliff Overhang
Allies (if any):
Year: 1
Additional Info: The people huddled together. It was a dark and stormy night, and their bare skin did nothing against the cold. Suddenly a bolt of lightning descended from the sky and hit a dead tree near their encampment. A few curious ones got third degree burns. Once the tree had burned down to embers a cautious fellow decided to pick it up with two sticks and added more wood. Thus begins our journey . .

Oooh, I love these games. Its better if one person runs it, who doesn't have a civilization. That way they're unbiased.

The other men, curious of what the strange liquid was, followed the man to where he found it. As they approached the liquid, all the men felt an intense heat strike their bodies. Their senses telling them not go closer, they stood and watched the liquid ooze down. The liquid hit a tree, and to the amazement of the men, it burst into flames!

Civilization name: The Redd Moon Goblin Tribe

Population: Unknown....

City and names: GnoshGnosh Camp

Allies(if any): EAT THEM!

Year: 1

Additional Info: Crawling out from the vast tunnel networks underneath the Cliffs of Death, the Redd Moon Goblin Tribe begins to make camp on the surface. Biting, clawing, pounding, smashing; a cloud of destruction envelopes the valley until the remaining debris resembles a small camp. Since they are able to see in the dark pretty well, the crafty goblins have no need for fire. All they need is food, land, food, and enemies to fight, who may eventually become food. As the year comes to a close, one of the goblin scouts notices a strange light coming from on top of one of the overhanging cliffs......

Civilization name: The Redd Moon Goblins

Population: 50

City and names: Redd Moon Camp

Year: 6

Additional Info:
Roving packs of goblins have learned how to take down some of the larger beasts that roam the forests. After the bones have been stripped clean, the goblins find they make great whacking sticks. The teeth and claws are great at cutting other animals and each other as well.

The goblins also raided the camp left behind by a human tribe nearby. They found leftover tools and crude leather scraps, which they immediately either ate, or assembled into their own comical idea of clothing. The tribe grows larger every day. Some of the larger nosed goblins tracked the sent of the humans into the valley that the ravine opens up into. As the goblin tribe grows, it begins to migrate....

(Notes on Goblins: They are mostly dim witted, belligerent, and they are quite small. They stand only half as tall as a man. They also cannot invent their own tools, learn how to use fire, or mine for minerals. However, their real advantage is numbers. And, by waging war with other countries they adapt to their enemy's tactics by emulating things like mounts (wolves instead of horses) and weapons (scouring the battlefield for leftover "bits"). So really, the only way the goblins can advance as a race is through combat. Otherwise they'll just keep growing in numbers until they start waging war with each other, and that usually gets them nowhere.....)

Civilization name: Sevis
Population:39
City and names: New Valley Underhang
Allies(if any):
Year: 18
Additional Info:

New Advances
They now have better clothing through the addition of wool and extra pads of leather for protection.

Their stone weapons and tools are more sophisticated, making use of wood and leather strips to bind them.

They have elected one leader for every ten people, so they now have a primitive council. This allows them to increase productivity by assigning certain people to certain tasks.

They've used pieces of wood and made a fence surround their encampment. Their camps are half dug into the ground with sticks to support a cone shaped structure. They line it with leaves and hang pieces of leather from them to dry.
Some people draw some charcoal lines in them.

There is a small fireplace in each house and a large communal fire.

The standard for communication are hand signals, grunts, and whistling.

A few kids start throwing stones using pieces of leftover leather. The adults however dismiss their effectiveness.

Create-A-Civ (To be, or not to be, that is the question . . .) Empty Re: Create-A-Civ (To be, or not to be, that is the question . . .)

Post  Soulcom 2011-01-21, 6:08 am

These are some rule changes and questions that I have. Please Sevyn, if you could respond to this post it would be greatly appreciated. Other comments would also be welcomed.

What if there was a new year every day? Since this started on tuesday, which was year 1, and now its friday, so its year 2. It seems that would work a lot easier since I dont really understand the year system. To make it so that everyone starts out on the same way but not the same year, the time should be split into ages. Such as years 1-10 is the Early Age; 11-30 Stone Age; 31-50 Bronze Age; 51-100 Iron Age; 101-200 Steel Age; and so on. If a player starts at year 5, they are in the Early age and have to use basic tools, but if someone starts in year 16 (thinking that those people left their tribe to start their own), they would have access to stone tools (which they took the technology from their previous tribe).

How does population increase work? I was thinking that it would increase by 10% of your population, and there would be immigration aswell which would increase population by 5%. That way everyone is sort of equal on how there population grows.

Plus I beleive that each nation should require a certain raw material, such as iron, so that way if a civilization is close to a mountain, they would have a high production of iron, while having a low production of spices/wines, and there is another civilization that is in a more fertile valley landscape where they have a high production of spices/wines, but a low production of iron. It would help out trade alliances.

Once the rules are better written, all the posts that do not pertain to this game should be deleted (such as this current post) and that every person should just edit their civilization instead of posting something new. So you can change the Additional Info to Civilization History and have a list of what happened during those years.

Example:

Civilization History:
Year 1: Tribe discovers fire.
Year 2: Tribe finishes construction of basic huts. There was also a boom in immigration that year, so the population was increased by 12 people
Year 3: The tribe is attacked by a orc raiding party losing some of its tribe's men.

Civilization Name: Tzoka
Population: 38
Cities:
Capital: Highpoint
Allies:
Year: 13
Additional info:
After years of surviving the terrible monsoons of their isolated country, nature has finally calmed down. Venturing outside, they have discovered that instead of their usual diet of cave mushrooms, they could eat the flesh of wild animals. Using leftover parts of animal hide, they assembled barely effective leather armor. They also discovered that instead of using the light of the earth (lava) for their heat and illumination, they could construct fire using wooden sticks.

If you can make it work that would be great, however I'm using another forum's rules. Every post you move through six year increments, and population you have
to (fairly) make up. If we have a year everyday it would take forever. It'll be a miracle to reach lasers.

Ok, I was just confused on year system, and how technologically advanced we ultimately become since there are goblins, magic, and what not. I'll just add 15% of my population each year to my total population. Thanks Sevyn

Allies(if any):
Year: 1
Additional Info: After a terrible dispute over resources took place the nuclear war started, the ones that were not in a high tec bunker died instanly and every sign of civilisation was lost. As the group of people that were in the bunker emerge to the surface to see an entire civilisation wiped out, the radiation from the bombs altough not suficient to mutate or kill them makes them to lose any knowledge that they had. Now on the nuclear winter this group of people are the last hope of mankind.
