Also fire does not play nice with wood construction.

How to make your house automatically suppress fires and reduce damage by explosions:

Build a house inside a house, but leave a one brick space everywhere. Complete the inside one first, then start building the walls. The outside layer can look like crap. As you finish the second layer put buckets of water in between the gap. Le gasp, your house takes care of fires for you.

In other terms,

Yo dog we heard you liked houses so we put a house inside your house so you could be safe while being safe.

Another solution is to put TNT and water spaced in the walls. TNT is counter griefer.

Griefer: lalala griefing this guys wall.
*BOOM*
Griefer: WTH? His wall exploded!

Can anyone offer some suggestions for how we can stick to this theme? Just some possible building techniques?

By destroying Brick, or releasing a Vanilla pack for the server with a different colored/designed Medieval looking brick. Wink

I was thinking more like these:

Columns, piers, arcades, merlons, jettying.

Some things we all might consider utilizing in some of our architecture.

For jettying, (I somehow used jettying once before I knew what it was) I like to place a lever on the wall and then set it to on. Or off. I forget. The one that points up, anyhoo.

more people need to be like you Adrian. ! I love that building you created. Btw, I have found that since stairs can have blocks above them you can use stairs as a wall as well. It gives a riveted wall texture.

Absolutely amazing guide. If you haven't yet, you should copy paste this to the minecraft forum's Adrian.
More people should know how to build a proper house like you've just shown everyone.
