Market Thread? [Request]

So I was thinking of setting up a buisness of sorts today, and I thought, how would I advertise? I've seen Redd advertise in global chat, I can't imagine that would get alot of buyers. So, why dont we have a market thread? Buy orders, sell orders, auctions. You could even sell pieces of land to rake in wads of cash for your empire. Of course, this would add another aspect of roleplaying to the game. Thieves could find when and where the two people will trade (or travel to trade), and intercept them. Either killing them for all they've got, or ransoming to let them run off. I think it would be a good thing to have. One more thing, I would like the gold shop to open as soon as possible, so the economy can actually start. Please, make gold worth more than 10 coins. The ores that arent as rare will be so underpriced. Coal, 1 coin. Really?

I would use it, but I think most people prefer to hoard their minerals instead of converting them to currency.

Igor, step 1 would be setting up an exchange rate. For example what is a stack of cobble worth? The simple answer is whatever the market will bear but some guideline would be nice.

Since you've raised the topic it sounds like a great job for you Establish a basic exchange rate for goods. Then let the market take over.

Ivory do you plan on making the exchange rate based on rarity or some other system. Also I support this idea a lot so if you need anything just ask.

I'll use either diamond or gold as a guide, then work my way from there on rarity (and amount/block) For example, 1 lapis block drops 4-5 lapis, so the price will be lower/lapis.

That works, WTS Diamonds, WTB Logs x5. I could devise a list of rules =P Pretty much all I want to do on this server (out of game) is devise an economy system. Item prices, exchange rates, trading methods, etc. I love economics..

Id really like the idea of a market on the forums. Trading ingame isn't as easy because your customers are limited to who can see what you say.

I suggest that you base it off diamonds instead of gold, because its already set. I was thinking many 100 for a diamond . Also I would like to help run the economy if its aright with you.

If the mods approve of me 'running' the economy, sure, you can help. And yes, I'll probably use 100 coins as a base prise for diamonds. Gold would be slightly cheaper, after that iron, coal, etc.

Exchange rate should be based on gold, as it has no other real use. Maybe up the selling price to the spawn shop to 50 coins, so that less valuable resources can have more distinction when it comes to prices.

I'd love to moderate the trading forum! Also, I'm going to start working on item prices based off of gold. I'll start this weekend, this week has been alot of cardio for baseball. It makes you sick man..

This. This is a RP server, and this counts as something to do within the game. We should stay in character when trading.

Yea that would be great if you could make a thread on this sevyn. I would also like to be a moderator on it if that is OK with you. And as for the standard I was thinking that all the prices would be based on a diamond as 100 coins, but gold would still be 10 coins just for the purpose of generating coins. It will make gold not worth as much compared to other things but at the same time if we base it off of 10 per a gold the its going to everything is going to be like 1 coin.
