New Gaming Rig! But there's a problem...
Hey all,
As most of you don't know, I play games off of a laptop. Here's the specs:
Processor: Pentium dual core T4400 2.2GHz
RAM: 4 gigs
OS: 64 bit windows 7
Graphics: Intel GMA 4500
Hard Drive: 320 Gigabytes
Pretty god-awful, amiright?
This is what I am planning to upgrade to: (its a desktop, btw)
Processor: i5 (P67 chipset/mobo thingy) 2500K 4 core at 3.3 GHz/6mb L3 cache (I'm overclocking this; don't know how much though)
RAM: 8 gigs of DDR3 1600 mem module
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5670 - 1GB
HDD: 1TB
Power Source: 550 W
It will also have liquid cooling and a mid sized tower.
This computer, with Win. 7 and a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, runs for 990 USD.
A pretty good price, if I do say so myself. I have around 1600 dollars in my savings account and 500 in my room. Even if I use 500 of my savings, it still leaves me with over 1000 dollars left. My parents, however, think that it is a stupid idea. They have no clue about computers, though Besides, I'm 14. It's about time I got some independence! What do you guys think I should do?

If you make your own computer:
A. It seems a lot cheaper to parents (and mosts cases IS cheaper)
B. It impresses then too "My child is so SMART!"
C. It's not that difficult "Wire A connects to Port B"
D. You get exactly what you want "Do i really need 500 GB?"

Lol. I realize this is kinda off-topic, but I love taking apart computers. But the last time I did I fried my $130 video card... and the time before that I broke the solder on my laptop's charging port...
Yeah rofl I think you should get it. Not only because you have more money than the U.S. treasury currently holds (heeheehee) but also because it has really nice specs.

Whether or not I want it, I can't get it. My parents won't let me. They think it's a waste of money.

you could always buy it a piece at a time as you "upgrade" you current comp. Starts with I need a new case and ends up with "my processor is overheating so I better get the cooling system". =p or the way I would do it and basically take about an hour to explain your case and try and beat theirs. In the end though you are only 14 and they basically own you. Also kudos to you for getting that kind of cash at that age (assuming they didn't give it to you).
