A second server perhaps?

Our current server: RP PVP action
Second Server: (RP?) PVE building

Or with some new Bukkit stuff two different worlds on one server. Simply type
/world 2 or /world 1

On the second server no body would spawn items, it's just pickaxes and people.

And if you have something really awesome that would spice up world one (pyramids, dungeons) we could port it to World One during down time.

sure but the issue with this is that at the moment there are few enough active players on the 1st server with the fact we aren't recruiting.

I can see the appeal in this but it is my belief that on a free-build server (even if it rp orientated) we should be able to spawn items as gathering resources can dramatically slow down the amount built and also how good the stuff is basically because people can't be arsed to build the thing when they have finished the mono-tomes task of gathering.

All the free-build servers with the great architecture and impressive building have had item spawning activated. If your worried about lots of trashy building you could have a separate application for this server where you must post up your previous construction projects in order so that the people who get on this server are the ones who can actually build well (this idea nicked from a french server i played on )

Be cool so long as the PVE server doesn't lag the other server.

Tho tbh, I'm not a fan of pure building server's, so you wont see me there.

Hm. It depends if anyone would be willing to buy the new server computer or pay for a host, because I'm sure Soto does not want to pay more money out of his pocket.

But than, Notch is a busy guy - he likes his Beer. You cant waste 24 hours every day on Minecraft. lol

Yeah, we're going to need some fresh blood soon. Everyone is busy right now.

See, if we have to apply to build, it will frighten fresh blood, I myself have a pet hate for signing up for even just white listing. So having to apply to build would be too painful to bear.

But with that in mind, If that was implemented so I applied to be allowed Item spawning I would do it in a heart beat as I have some great ideas but just the lack of time to gather the materials
