The Trade Alliance
Hi everyone, you probably remember me from the last couple of servers, anyways im back again
Well, Grunn crumpled and so did the other towns with it, so i decided to move away from that land and come over to here with you guys and i have a new plan.
The trade alliance (im not really sure this is the right name for it) is going to be a place where everyone can come and trade and chill in peace. There will be market places, a bank, an inn and diplomacy/meeting rooms; im am also open to suggestions for other things.
The idea is to have a neutral trading area where nations can send their merchants to trade and chat without the worries of being stabbed/shot/horribly maimed along the way. The bank vaults will be highly protected and the idea is that if everyone joins, then everyone will have a bank space, so you will not want to raid the bank, as it has your own stuff in it. Also, this then provides security as if someone does manage to get past all the defences and then break into the bank, they will have pretty much everyone in the server out to get them (i know this is a sensitive subject, but i believe this is all good on the rp front as well).
Since this is also a neutral area, diplomacy meetings could also be carried out in one of the rooms in the complex, which could be pretty cool.
I believe that this would be both fun to take part in, and also fun to run. I hope that you guys think the same. Please leave any suggestions/comments, but please do not let this post get turned into a flame match/ troll session/ argument about who killed who.

meh, the spawn is too big and people find it lags. Don't get me wrong, the spawn is awesome, but it jusi doesn't seem like it works for those things. Also, the spawn doesn't have a bank system like a plan on implimenting.

I would be interested in organizing the escorts to and from your city if you want as well as setting up a shop there.

Hmm... I like the idea of having a trading embassy located in a safe and central place. Maybe we can implement a tariff on foreign objects or 'perishables' (objects from the Nether, sugar, apples). This would mean, say, for every 10 apples they say for 3 coins each they have to give 1 coin to a wizard or maybe the creator of the trade center, on account of them building it. Probably hard to get to work though... but people who avoid the tax will be labeled as thieves, and once they are caught they can spend a minimal amount of jail time (5 minutes) and pay a small fine. Idk, i thought this all up in a minute. Not very organized.

im glad that you guys think this is a good idea. I built a prototype with a friend on a server i put up yesterday and that seemed to work well. It would be like a club or a union, so you guys would have to pay a smally membership fee (just enough to cover the cost of the towny blocks). At the moment it is a few minutes walk along the North Road from the spawn, and when i have finished it i might link it by road, but im not sure.
@Darwin. That is awesome, ill save you a stall and we will talk business when i am on.

Ok great. That sounds fine. And yes, I have been to a London street market there. I got a temporary tattoo once XD. I'm talking with Doomkiwi on Teamspeak, and he's proposing that we use his city for it. He made it completely out of spawned items, so he can't use it himself. It's very large, and only around 400 blocks from spawn. I don't know if any of you have seen it yet, but with a little work it would be perfect.

i was already well underway with it before the server went to the temp map, and i have a team of friends who are gonna help me make it. This sounds like a good idea, however we would need a detachment of guards to protect people leaving as some people would wait until they leave and stab them. Or we could have an agreement that when you step outside it's your problem not theirs.

This reminds me of Switzerland in WW2 if I have my facts right they were holding everyone's shit and no one touched them because it had their shit inside. But what if someone breaks in and just steals from all the chests? would they not steal their stuff back and everyone else too? I say the solution is to hire lotsa guards from different places so it will be noon here and midnight for applebeard and midnight here and noon for you.

I would happily guard the area as well as darwin seing as we are in different time zones although I can only work part time so it'd realy be occational voulentering
