NEW LIFE RULE
The New Life Rule
The New Life rule is a convention used when a player is killed. When they respawn they have a “new life”. All bad blood between two players is gone after the killed player respawns. Once the player is dead they no longer “exist" and you move on with your life; it’s as if they are dead and buried. When someone dies and respawns they are basically a new person with the exception of being a faction member.
This is to prevent actions of revenge.
For example: a situation in which someone follows a spawned player to kill them each time they leave the pvp free spawn zone. Killing someone for revenge is not okay. It only spirals into a feud between two players killing each other over and over again over something that happened many deaths ago.

what if you decided to come back as your son or daughter? Then you would have an excuse for revenge.

Re: NEW LIFE RULE
Essentially you "come back" as a new you, not a completely new character. It's not like you can change your name and all that. For instance, if I changed my character every time I died, then I'd have to work my way up to captain over and over again. That doesn't fly. So no, goofy RP ideas do NOT circumvent the rules. You have to obey them no matter what.

Regarding the new life rule...
What if two characters have an 'alliance' of sorts, and one of them is killed? Is it acceptable for the ally to attack the killer, even if he was not present at the time? Or do such "vendettas" also get removed under the new life rule?

Your friend can avenge you upon your death. However, you may not avenge yourself. If you both die no revenge happens.
